Geology And Economy of Platinum-Group Metalls and Minerals

Abstract

In the world, platinum-group metalls (Pt, Pd, Ir, Os, Ru, Rh) are found as a primary in the magmatic liquation, early magmatic and late magmatic deposits. They are present as secondary in the placer deposits. As Pt, Ir, Os three of them are more dominant in basic rocks, however Pd and Pt sulfure are more abundant in ultrabasic rocks. Distrubition of platinum-group metalls in stratiform and podiform chromite deposits of late magmatic stage show differences. Although Cr203 are present more in podiform deposits, platinum-group metalls less in the same deposits, but stratiform deposits show opposite state. All platinum-group metalls have been produved in a few countries (Canada, S. Africa, Russia, Colombia) as a 98 per cent of the world production. Platinum-group metalls (Pt, Pd, Ir, Os, Ru, Rh) are present less in chromite deposits of Turkey and they are not economic.

Platin Grubu Metal ve Minerallerin Jeolojisi ve Ekonomisi

Abstract

Dünyada platin grubu metaller (Pt, Pd, Ir, Os, Rh, Ru) genelde birincil olarak: likit, erken mağmatik ve geç mağmatik olarak üç ayrı yataklanma tipinde bulunurlar. İkincil olarak ise, plaser yataklarda gözlenirler. Ultrabazik kayaçlarda Pt, Ir, Os üçlüsü daha egemenken, bazik kayaçlarda Pd ve Pt sülfürler halinde baskındır. Geç mağmatik evrede oluşan stratiform ve podiform kromit yataklarında platin grubu metallerin dağılımı farklılık gösterir. Podiform kromit yataklarında Cr203 fazla, platin grubu metaller azken, stratiform yataklarda tam tersi bir durum izlenir. Dünyada birkaç ülke (Kanada, G. Afrika, Rusya ve Kolombiya) dünya platin grubu metal üretiminin %98'ini ellerinde tutarken, Türkiye'de platin grubu metaller gözlenmiş olup, ekonomik önemi yoktur.
