Abstract

87Sr, genellikle 87Rb’un ß ışınıyla bozunmasından türemiş radyojenik bir izotoptur. Kayaların karbonat kısımlarında daha zengin olarak bulunur ve 87Sr/86Sr olarak ifade edilir. Bu izotop oranından faydalanılarak ve elde edilmiş denklemleri kullanarak kronostratigrafik yorumlara gidilebilmektedir. Analiz yapılacak örneklerin seç imi sırasında, bunların diyajenez veya alterasyon geç irip geçirmedikleri veya ortamı etkileyen diğer faktörlerin ne olduğu iyi bilinmeli ve araştırılmalıdır. Sr kronostratigrafisi daha ziyade diğer verilerle desteklenmeye ve korelasyona ihtiyaç duyan bir yöntemdir. Denizel veya karışık ortamlar için farklı denklemler ve grafikler kullanılmaktadır.
