Abstract
Communication phenomenon, which facilitates our work in every part of our lives and in every environment, can be defined as “agreement and agreement” with a very rough definition. In other words, communication is the art of making meanings common. Communication encoding is decoding. Communication is all verbal or non-verbal efforts between people to achieve desired results and influence behavior. Based on these definitions, communication in general; drawing, painting, word, writing, hand gestures etc. between individuals, societies and groups. It is an interaction that provides mutual communication of ideas, wishes and feelings through symbols and symbols. Even in the early ages, human beings fell in love with expressing their problems with images. We witness this in the oldest known wall paintings in human history. For example, these paintings can be found in the Altamira cave, which has a history of 24 thousand years. In other words, even in the first old pictures of human history, we can go to the data that will evoke the phenomenon of cinema and photography, which is considered to be the ancestor of visual media. Continuing from this point, the most important development regarding communication is the introduction of internet-based media into our lives. The fact that internet-based media is functional especially in terms of providing feedback and instantaneousness has caused it to be preferred by people. Today, social media software, sites, links, etc. areas such as the expression have become indispensable for people and society. The internet-based social media world, which is at the center of our lives, is of course beneficial when used for the intended purpose. However, the “use of smart devices” that provide many functions together and the “weakening of face-to-face ommunication, excessive individualization, information pollution, addictive applications and the psychological disorders they provide” are various diseases and multilayered problems that are difficult to solve.
In this study; By making a literature review, various studies produced in this field were examined and the effect of social media diseases on people was tried to be analyzed.
As a result; We can conclude that when the social media area is preferred for purpose and according to need, it will bring more benefit than harm.
