Abstract
The most important factor for the companies to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage is their human resources. This situation, which is expressed mostly for the private sector, has become more important, also for the public sector with the new public management approach. In this research, personality traits and effects of person-job fit on job satisfaction will be examined. In this context, the effect of the subcontractor system on job satisfaction will be examined. The research data were collected from 112 subcontractors working in public hospitals in Tokat. The results showed that personality traits and person-job fit increase job satisfaction, and that conscientiousness, agreeableness and neuroticism dimensions affect person-job fit. It is another result of the research that person-job fit plays a mediating role in the effection between these three dimensions and job satisfaction. Accordingly, human’s personality traits must be compatible with the work to provide high job satisfaction.
