“Plagiarism is the partial or complete use of the original ideas, methods, data and works belonging others as its own without showing references appropriately (Turkish Council of Higher Education, Directive on Scientific Research and Publishing, 4/1a).”
Plagiarism screening in academic journals is an indispensable element for ensuring the reliability and sustainability of scholarly publishing. The primary aim of scientific studies is to produce original knowledge and to make high-quality contributions to the existing literature.
In this context, plagiarism screening plays a critical role in preventing practices that violate research ethics, safeguarding academic integrity, and maintaining the credibility of scientific knowledge.
In line with its publication principles, the Journal of Child Decelopment and Education aims to publish original and scholarly research. Accordingly, the JOCDE commits to avoiding publications that violate publication ethics, and all manuscripts submitted to the journal are subjected to plagiarism/similarity checks by the editor during the preliminary review stage.
Plagiarism screening of all submissions is conducted using İntihal.net via the Dergipark platform.
The Journal’s Editorial Board has adopted an upper limit of 20% for the overall similarity rate and 2% for similarity from a single source.
Within this framework, a plagiarism report is generated for all submitted manuscripts using plagiarism detection software and uploaded to the system with author visibility enabled. However, the decision as to whether a manuscript contains plagiarism is not based solely on the plagiarism report results. The editor makes the final decision by examining both the report and the citation system used in the manuscript. The editor’s final decision may include:
Returning the manuscript to the author for necessary revisions.
Rejecting the manuscript outright.
At any stage of the manuscript evaluation process, the editor may repeat the plagiarism screening if deemed necessary.
Plagiarism screening not only encourages authors to conduct their work in accordance with ethical principles but also ensures that readers are provided with reliable and original scholarly content.
