The Relationship Between Competition and Risk in the Banking Sector - Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze competition and risk in the banking sector, which is one of the most important sectors that it affects, using bibliometric mapping and to identify possible additional areas of study. For this purpose, 2.674 articles in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI- EXPANDED) indexes between 2004 and 2023 were compiled from the Web of Science Core Collection database, and after some screening, the sample size of 1.854 research articles was evaluated using VOSviewer software. As a result, while detailed information on the current state of research on competition and risk was obtained, gaps in areas such as moral hazard, corporate governance, fintech, deposit insurance, etc. that may benefit from additional research were identified.

Bankacılık Sektöründe Rekabet ve Risk İlişkisi-Bibliyometrik Analiz

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, rekabet ve riski, etkilediği en önemli sektörlerden biri olan bankacılık sektöründeki akademik çalışmalar üzerinden bibliyometrik haritalama kullanarak geniş bir şekilde analiz etmek ve olası ihtiyaç duyulan ilave çalışma alanlarını tespit etmektir. Bu amaçla Web of Science Core Collection veri tabanından 2004- 2023 yılları arasında Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) ve Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI- EXPANDED) indekslerinde yer alan 2.674 makale derlenmiş, belge türü ve alan elemelerinden sonra 1.854 araştırma makalesinden oluşan örneklem büyüklüğü, VOSviewer yazılımı kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak; rekabet ve risk konusundaki çalışmalar hakkında mevcut duruma ilişkin detaylı bilgiler elde edilirken, ilave araştırma yapılması yararlı olabilecek ahlâki tehlike, kurumsal yönetim, fintech, mevduat sigortası gibi çalışma alanlarında boşluklar tespit edilmiştir.
