SAVUNMA HARCAMALARININ EKONOMİK BÜYÜME VE CARİ İŞLEMLER DENGESİNE ETKİSİ: TÜRKİYE ÖRNEĞİ

Year 2017, Volume: 2 Issue: 2, 86 - 104, 01.12.2017

Abstract

EFFECT OF DEFENCE SPENDING ON ECONOMIC GROWTH AND CURRENT ACCOUNT BALANCE: TURKEY CASE

Year 2017, Volume: 2 Issue: 2, 86 - 104, 01.12.2017

Abstract

ABSTRACT:

Military expenditure is one of the important expenditure items that affect economic growth and
current account balance. The current account deficit is an undesirable situation for all countries and is at the
forefront of major macroeconomic problems. Given these circumstances, the relationship between military
expenditure, current account balance and economic growth has played an important role on a day-to-day basis and
many empirical studies have been conducted by economists on this subject. In this study, the relationship between
military expenditure, current account balance and economic growth was examined for Turkey in the period of
1986-2016 with Vector Error Correction Model (VECM).
