Abstract

The aim of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of sustainable tourism research published in Web of Science (WoS) indexed journals covering the years 2021-2025. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using science mapping on 9,213 research articles taken from the Web of Science (WoS) database using "sustainable tourism" as the subject field and keyword. This study reveals the spatial and temporal patterns of sustainable tourism publications, revealing that the field has expanded over a 5-year period. In the study, Ying Zhang was determined as the most influential author, “Journal of Sustainable Tourism” is the leading journal, and the most productive countries in sustainable tourism literature were China, Spain, the United States, England and Australia. It was revealed that Dwivedi et al. (2023) is the most cited article on sustainable tourism, and according to the keyword analysis, the expressions with the highest density are sustainability, sustainable tourism development, sustainable tourism indicators, sustainable development, sustainable transportation, bibliometric analysis, document analysis, ecotourism, mass tourism, natural protected areas, z and alpha generation, experience. Additionally, institutions and organizations that contribute to sustainable tourism in terms of citation and financing were included, and 9,213 articles were categorized according to 17 goals of sustainable development. As a result, the study provided an image of the last five years of sustainable tourism and tried to fill the gaps in sustainable tourism by suggesting new ways for future research.

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2021-2025 yıllarını kapsayan Web of Science (WoS) indeksli dergilerde yayımlanmış sürdürülebilir turizm araştırmalarının bibliyometrik analizini yapmaktır.
