Abstract
The aim of the present study was to examine the effects of gluteus maximus muscle kinesiologic taping on gait parameters in a stroke patient. A 47-year-old right hemiplegic stroke patient was included in the study. In order to evaluate the gait parameters, computerized gait analysis system was used. Kinesiologic taping was applied to the bilateral gluteus maximus muscles from origo to insertion. The gait analysis was repeated 5 minutes after the taping was completed. Increase in hipextension in the stance phase, increase in hip flexion at the beginning of swing and increase in walking speed were detected. It is thought that the kinesiological taping applied to the gluteus maximus muscle in stroke patients may have positive effects on gait functions.
