Productive Artificial Intelligence Policy

The journals of Sakarya University of Applied Sciences regulate the use of generative artificial intelligence tools within the framework of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical responsibility, in accordance with the principles outlined below.
1. General Principles
Artificial intelligence tools may only serve as supportive aids to authors. The scientific content, originality, accuracy, and ethical compliance of the manuscript remain entirely the responsibility of the authors. Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors are fully responsible for the originality of the work, the accuracy of the data, the validity of citations, and ensuring that no third-party rights are violated. The use of artificial intelligence does not absolve authors of these responsibilities.
2. Transparency and Declaration Requirement
If artificial intelligence has been used at any stage of the research, writing, or editorial processes, this must be clearly and transparently declared. The name of the tool, its version, and the purpose of use must be specified. Artificial intelligence methods used in the research process should be explained in the Methods section. Declarations are not mandatory for uses limited solely to basic grammar and spelling checks. Authors are required to complete the “Generative Artificial Intelligence Declaration” during the manuscript submission process. The author(s) are personally responsible for the accuracy of the information provided in this declaration.
3. Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers may not upload unpublished manuscript files, images, or content to any artificial intelligence platforms under any circumstances. The protection of confidentiality and intellectual property rights is essential. If suspicious use of artificial intelligence is identified, editors or reviewers may request additional explanations from the author(s) or refer the matter to the journal management.
4. Policy Violations
Failure to declare the use of artificial intelligence or use that is inconsistent with this policy may result in rejection of the manuscript. If such issues are identified after publication, they may lead to a correction or retraction.
5. Permitted Areas of Use
• Conceptual diagrams and explanatory visuals: Visualization of theoretical frameworks or processes.
• Data visualization: Facilitating the presentation of research data through graphs, tables, or diagrams.
• Representative or symbolic visuals: Using illustrative elements to simplify complex ideas.
6. Prohibited Areas of Use
• Direct generation by artificial intelligence of the main sections of the manuscript (abstract, introduction, literature review, results, discussion).
• Use of artificial intelligence in the generation, reporting, or interpretation of research findings.
• Production of fake, unverifiable, or fabricated references/citations.
• Delegating the writing of the manuscript’s original thesis, theoretical contribution, or core arguments to artificial intelligence.
