Generative Artificial Intelligence Use Policy

Generative Artificial Intelligence Use Policy

Journals published by Sakarya University of Applied Sciences regulate the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in accordance with the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical responsibility, as outlined below.

1. General Principles

Artificial intelligence tools may be used solely as supportive aids for authors. Full responsibility for the scientific content, originality, accuracy, and ethical compliance of the manuscript rests entirely with the author(s). AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors under any circumstances. Authors are fully responsible for the originality of the work, the accuracy of the data, the validity of citations, and ensuring that no third-party rights are violated. The use of AI tools does not diminish or transfer these responsibilities.

2. Transparency and Disclosure Requirement

If AI tools are used at any stage of the research, writing, or editorial process, such use must be clearly and transparently disclosed. The name of the tool, its version, and the purpose of its use must be specified. AI methods used during the research process must be described in the Methods section. Disclosure is not required for the use of AI tools limited solely to basic grammar and spelling checks.
Authors are required to complete the Generative Artificial Intelligence Disclosure Statement during manuscript submission. The author(s) bear full responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the information provided in this declaration.

3. Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers must not upload unpublished manuscripts, figures, or any related content to AI platforms under any circumstances. The protection of confidentiality and intellectual property rights is essential. In cases of suspected inappropriate or undisclosed AI use, editors or reviewers may request additional clarification from the author(s) or refer the matter to the journal’s editorial management.

4. Policy Violations

Failure to disclose the use of AI tools or use of AI in ways that are inconsistent with this policy may result in manuscript rejection. If such violations are identified after publication, corrective actions, including the issuance of a correction or retraction, may be taken.

5. Permitted Uses

The following uses of generative AI tools are permitted, provided that appropriate disclosure is made where required:

Conceptual diagrams and explanatory visuals: Visualization of theoretical frameworks or processes.

Data visualization: Assisting in the presentation of research data through graphs, tables, and diagrams.

Illustrative or symbolic visuals: Use of explanatory elements to simplify complex concepts.

6. Prohibited Uses

The following uses of generative AI tools are strictly prohibited:

Direct generation of the main sections of the manuscript (including the abstract, introduction, literature review, results, and discussion).

Use of AI tools in the generation, reporting, or interpretation of research findings.

Generation of fabricated, unverifiable, or fictitious references or citations.

Delegation of the manuscript’s original thesis, theoretical contributions, or core arguments to AI tools.
