Ölümler sürdürülebilir kalkınma hedeflerini nasıl etkiliyor?

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Göstergeleri Endeksi puanı ile anne ölümleri, beş yaş altı ölümler (u5mortalite) trafik ölümleri ve bulaşıcı olmayan hastalıklardan kaynaklanan ölümler (BOH mortalitesi) dahil olmak üzere ölümler arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya koymaktır. Yöntem: Analizlerde panel veri yöntemi kullanılmış, 2000-2020 yılları arasında düzenli verileri olan 11 OECD ülkesine ait ölüm oranları bağımsız değişkenler; Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Göstergeleri Endeksi puanı bağımlı değişken olarak kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: En küçük kareler analizi sonuçlarına göre anne ölümlerindeki %1'lik artış, sürdürülebilir kalkınma endeksi puanını %0,021 oranında; beş yaş altı ölüm oranlarındaki %1'lik artış sürdürülebilir kalkınma endeksi puanını %0,037; BOH mortalitesindeki %1'lik artış, sürdürülebilir kalkınma endeksi puanını %0,044; trafik ölümlerindeki %1'lik artış sürdürülebilir kalkınma endeksi puanını %0,016 oranında azaltmaktadır (p<0,01). Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Endeksi puanı ile ölüm türleri arasında farklı yönlerde Granger tipi nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilmiş ayrıca değişkenlerin uzun dönemli bir ilişki sergiledikleri de gözlemlenmiştir. Varyans ayrıştırma testleri de uzun dönemde ölüm oranlarının sürdürülebilir kalkınmaya ilişkin tüm göstergelerin yaklaşık %10'unu açıklayarak, sağlıklı bir sosyal yapının ülkelerin sürdürülebilir kalkınması için temel bir gereklilik olduğunu vurgulamıştır. Sonuç: Araştırmadan elde edilen ampirik kanıtlara göre, ölüm oranlarındaki artış, analize tabi tutulan ülkelerdeki Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Hedefleri Endeksi puanını olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir.

How does mortality affect sustainable development goals?

Abstract

Aims: The aim of this study was to reveal the relationship between the sustainable development indicators index score and mortality, including maternal deaths, deaths under the age of five (u5mortality) traffic deaths, and death of non-communicable disease (NCD mortality). Methods: Panel data method was used in the analyses, mortality rates independent variables belonging to 11 OECD countries with regular data between 2000-2020; sustainable development indicators index score was considered as the dependent variable. Results: According to the results of the least squares analysis, a 1% increase in maternal mortality reduced the sustainable development index score by 0.021%; a 1% increase in under five years mortality reduced the sustainable development index score by 0.037%; a 1% increase in NCD mortality reduced the sustainable development index score by 0.044%; a 1% increase in trafficmortality reduced the sustainable development index score by 0.016% (p<0.01). A Granger-type causality relationship was identified in different directions between the Sustainable Development Index score and various types of mortality. Additionally, it has been observed that the variables exhibit a long-term relationship. The results of this research explain that long-term mortality rates account for approximately 10% of all sustainable development-related indicators, emphasizing that a healthy social structure is a fundamental requirement for the sustainable development of countries. Conclusion: Therefore, according to the empirical evidence obtained from the research, the increase in mortality negatively affects the SDG index score in the countries under analysis.
