On the Traces of Qaγan Election Ritual in the Old Turkic Inscriptions

Abstract

In this study, the traces of the qaγan election rituals in the Old Turkic Inscriptions were mentioned. The qaγan election ritual is not only in the Turkic Qaghanate, it was also present in the old Uyghurs with great enthusiasm. Probably this ritual was a heritage of them to the Huns. We learn from sources that this heritage has survived to the Seljuk times. The ‘raise’ rituals of this traditions has changed day by day. This is an indication that some of the traces of the Ötüken culture are still alive today.
