Abstract

Negative pressure pulmonary edema (NPPE) is non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema that may develop as a result of forced inspiration against acute upper airway obstruction or sudden relief of chronic upper airway obstruction. It is a complication, mostly seen in adult men receiving general anesthesia, and develops as a result of laryngospasm after extubation or biting of the endotracheal tube. This case report, it is aimed to share our experience with a patient who developed NPPE due to laryngospasm after general anesthesia and was treated with non-invasive ventilation in the intensive care unit.
