A rare case: Peptic ulcer perforation and sigmoid volvulus coexistence

Abstract

Abdominal pain is one of the common reasons for admission to the emergency room. Although peptic ulcer perforation is less common than in the past with current treatment approaches, it is still one of the most important causes of abdominal pain that requires urgent surgery. Sigmoid volvulus accompanying peptic ulcer perforation is a rare condition. A 73-year-old patient, who presented with abdominal pain, was taken into emergency surgery with the preliminary diagnosis of hollow organ perforation upon detection of free air in his imaging, and sigmoid volvulus was detected along with peptic ulcer perforation. In our study; We aimed to discuss this rare case by evaluating its findings and treatment management.

Nadir bir olgu: Peptik ülser perforasyonu ve sigmoid volvulus birlikteliği

Abstract

Karın ağrısı acile sık başvuru nedenlerinden biridir. Peptik ülser perforasyonu güncel tedavi yaklaşımlarıyla birlikte geçmişe göre daha az görülse de hala acil ameliyat gerektiren en önemli karın ağrısı nedenlerinden biridir. Peptik ülser perforasyonuna eşlik eden sigmoid volvulus görülmesi nadir bir durumdur. 73 yaşında karın ağrısı ile başvuran hasta, görüntülemelerinde serbest hava saptanması üzerine boşluklu organ perforasyonu ön tanısı ile acil ameliyata alınmış ve peptik ülser perforasyonu ile birlikte sigmoid volvulus tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmamızda; bu nadir olguyu bulguları ve tedavi yönetimini değerlendirerek tartışmayı amaçladık.
