Reflex Bradycardia During Intubation.

Abstract

In the perioperative period, especially during anesthesia induction, many complications, varying from mild hemodynamic changes to severe bradycardia, even cardiac arrest may occur. Most common of these are anaphylactic reactions, cardiac rhythm disorders, and cardiac arrhythmia and syncope related with vagal reflexes. They can cause serious morbidity. Here, we present a one year old child that developed deep bradycardia during laryngoscopy following standart anesthesia induction for an operation for hand gash. Bradycardia didn’t recur during laryngoscopy after atropine administration. The patient was considered to have extreme vagal hyperactivity. This case was reported, because vagal hyperactivity is one of the most important preoperative anesthesia complications.
