REGIONAL ANAESTHESIA IN A PATIENT WITH BRUGADA SYNDROME; CASE REPORT

Abstract

Brugada syndrome first described by Brugada and Brugada in 1992, is a rare genetic disease characterized by abnormal electrocardiogram findings and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death by ventricular fibrillation. Brugada syndrome is characterized by an ECG pattern of right bundle branch block and ST segment elevation in the right precordial leads (V1 to V3), without evidence of underlying structural heart disease. Some patients have a normal ECG at rest and changes are only apparent on provocation with drugs, in particular sodium channel blockers. Regional anaesthesia experience is limited in the patints with Brugada syndrom. We report a case of regional anaesthetic procedure for a patient with Brugada syndrome who underwent arthroscopic surgery.
