CAN BE USED THE NYLON CABLE TIE AS SETON IN THE TREATMENT OF COMPLICATED FISTULAS?
Abstract
Perianal fistula (PF) is the common diseases required surgical intervention in perianal region. The majority of PF can be easily treated with fistulotomy. However, the seton technique to avoid fecal incontinence and recurrence is used often in the surgical treatment of complicated PF. In this study, we aimed to investigate the availability of nylon cable tie as seton technique. Between January 2011and December 2013, 27 patients with the diagnosis of complex perianal fistulas performed nylon cable tie seton sutures were included to the study in Elazığ Medical Park Hospital. 22 (81.9%) of the patients in the study were male and transsfinkteric fistula was obtained in 16 patients (59.25%). Mean follow-up was 10 months respectively. Surgical site infection responsive surgical site infections antibiotic therapy was detected in 1 patient with diabetes. In any patient was detected recurrence or incontinence We suggest that the nylon cable tie can be used as seton in the treatment of complicated fistulas due to cheap, easy to implement and reliable material.
