The causes of penetran neck injuries can be objects such as bullet or any other thing. It is of great importance under such circumstances to evaluate whether there are any injury in vascular structures (carotis artery, vertebral artery ve jugular veins) or not. Moreover, it is probable to be faced with laringotracheal injuries, esophagus injuries, nerve and duktus thorasicus injuries and thyroid injuries. In such kind of penetran injuries, it is of great importance not to let anybody except medical staff to take out the objects carelessly. Moreover, it is important during the transportation of the patient not to move herself. Our patient is lucky in terms of not being faced with any secondary trauma after the accident. She is also lucky because vascular structure of her throat was not damaged.
Boynun penetran yaralanmalarına neden olan objeler, kurşun ya da diğer kesici veya delici aletlerden her hangi biri olabilir. Bu olgularda hızlı şekilde, vasküler yapılarda (karotis arter, vertebral arter ve jugular venler) hasar olup olmadığı değerlendirilmelidir. Aynı zamanda, laringotrakeal yaralanmalar, özofagus yaralanmaları, sinir ve duktus torasikus yaralanmaları ve son olarak tiroid yaralanmaları da oluşabilir. Bu tip objelerle olan boynun penetran yaralanmalarında, kesinlikle olay yerinde sağlık personeli veya diğer kişiler tarafından objenin gelişi güzel çıkartılmasına izin verilmemelidir. Hasta transportunda objenin hareket ettirilmemesi de önemlidir. Olgumuz, kaza sırasında boynun vasküler yapılarının hasar görmemiş olması ve sonrasında sekonder bir travmaya maruz kalmaması yönünden şanslıdır
