Experimental Study of Unconfined Twin Propeller Jet Scour

Abstract

The propeller jet flow caused to significant erosion and sedimentation near port structures, in front of quay walls, and around pile structures. Additionally, shallow water depths increase the amount of erosion caused by the propeller jet. If these problems are not considered during the design phase, serious erosion at the foundation of port structures and consequent significant stability issues may occur. In this study, the effect of erosion under twin propeller jet influence was investigated by examining the distance between propellers and the seabed, propeller propeller speed, and the distance between propellers, and the results were compared. It was found that as the propeller speed increases, the maximum erosion increases, as the distance between propellers increases, the maximum erosion decreases, and as the distance between the propeller and the seabed increases, the maximum erosion decreases. The obtained maximum erosion results were found to be consistent with the literature.

Yapı ile Sınırlandırılmamış Çift Pervane Jet Etkisinde Oyulmanın Deneysel Olarak Araştırılması

Abstract

Pervane jet akımı, liman yapılarının yakınlarında, rıhtım duvarları önünde ve kazıklı yapıların etrafında ciddi oyulma ve birikmelere neden olmaktadır. Ayrıca sığ su derinlikleri de pervane jeti oyulma miktarını artırmaktadır. Bu problemler projelendirme sırasında dikkate alınmadığı takdirde liman yapılarının temelinde ciddi oyulmalar ve buna bağlı önemli stabilite sorunları meydana getirmektedir. Bu çalışmada çift pervane jet etkisindeki oyulmaya, pervaneler ile taban arasındaki mesafe, pervane dönüş hızı ve pervaneler arası mesafenin etkisi incelenmiş ve sonuçlar karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen verilerden yola çıkarak dönüş hızı arttığında maksimum oyulmanın arttığı, pervaneler arası mesafe arttığında maksimum oyulmanın azaldığı ve pervane ile taban arasındaki mesafe arttığında maksimum oyulmanın azaldığı tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen maksimum oyulma sonuçlarının literatür ile uyumlu olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
