Türkiye’de Sosyoloji’nin üniversite düzeyinde bir ders olarak okutulmasının başlangıcı Ziya Gökalp tarafından açılan dersin okutulduğu 1913 yılı olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bunun sonucu olarak Sosyoloji alanında da çeşitli kitaplar ve ders kitapları da yayımlanmaya başlamıştır. Bu kitaplardan biri 1917 yılında faaliyete geçen Medreset’ü’l-Mütehassisin Felsefe Şubesi’nde okutulmak üzere Emniyet Müdürlüğü Yabancılar Şubesi müdürü Ahmed Midhat tarafından kaleme alınan İlm-i İçtima adlı eserdir. Meşrutiyet döneminde yazılan ilk telif ders kitaplarından biri olan İlm-i İçtima öğrencilere yönelik anlatımıyla dikkat çeker. Sosyoloji’nin geçirdiği aşamalar anlatıldıktan sonra sağlıklı bir bölümlemeyle Sosyoloji’nin alt başlıklarını ele alır. Başta Durkheim olmak üzere Tarde ya da Montesqiueu gibi Ondokuzuncu yüzyılın önde gelen sosyal bilimcilerinden alıntılar yapan Ahmed Midhat değişik Fransızca kaynakları da kullanarak Sosyoloji alanına öncü bir katkı yapmıştır. Kitap ayrıca Sosyoloji terminolojisinin Türkçeleştirilmesinde de kayda değer bir yere sahiptir
The beginning of a lesson taught in sociology at the university level in Turkey is considered as 1913. As a result, various books and textbooks were also published in the field of Sociology. One of these books is the book called İlm-i İçtima, which was written by Ahmed Midhat, the director of the Foreigners Department of the Police Department, to be taught at the Department of Philosophy of Medreset. İlm-i İçtima, one of the first copyright textbooks written during the Constitutional Monarchy period, draws attention with its narration directed to students. After explaining the stages of Sociology, it discusses the subheadings of Sociology with a healthy division. Ahmed Midhat, who quoted from the leading nineteenth century social scientists, especially Durkheim, made a pioneering contribution to the field of Sociology by using various French sources. The book also has a significant place in the Turkishization of sociological terminology

“Journal of Social and Cultural Studies” (J-SCS) is published in Turkish and English. “Journal of Social and Cultural Studies” (J-SCS) is published only in electronic form through its website and adopts open access policy. The journal is published twice a year, in June and December. No fees are charged for publications, no fees are paid to the editors, the editorial board and the referees and their owners. It is accepted that the authors who submit articles to the contact address for publication in the journal should read and acknowledge this copyright statement.
“Journal of Social and Cultural Studies” is open to the work of all researchers who have the title “PhD” or “PhD student”. It is not obligatory that the second, third and fourth authors of the article have the title “PhD” or “PhD student”. An article should has been written by max. four authors. The articles prepared in accordance with the writing rules are presented to the referee for review after they have passed the editorial review. The reviewer may ask for a correction to the article, directly refuse or accept it. For the articles declined as a result of the reviewer evaluation, a second reviewer may be requested by the author, If the editors’ board finds that the request is appropriate, the article will be sent to a second reviewer.
The articles previously published in another publication or in the evaluation stage by another publication are not accepted into “Journal of Social and Cultural Studies” publication process. All the ethical and legal responsibilities related to the published articles belong to the authors.
