The aim of the study is to reveal with reference to Goffman's theory that the mystification technique is at the source of inequalities and power. For this, firstly the outlines of Goffman's theory are given. His conceptualizations of front, back and external areas were examined. Then, it is figured out what are the concepts of set, showcase, appearance and attitude, which are the basic components of the front area, are explained and what we should understand from them. Thereafter, the productive techniques that individuals use in their performances in front of the stage are included. Dramatic portrayal, idealization, retention of expression control, misrepresentation, reality and fakery, mystification techniques are explained in general terms and then emphasis is placed on mystification. It has been suggested that the theoretical foundations of mystification can be traced back to Cooley and that its function is to open the distance between the performers and the audience. In this way, an impression of admiration and superiority is created on the audience about the performers. Mystification and power are inseparable; if mystery increases, power becomes stronger; if mystery decreases, power disappears. The study was based on secondary data analysis. It is not a field or survey study. It is a review study and was prepared by applying the literature search method. As a result of this study prepared based on the literature search method, it was understood that mystery and power are closely related to each other. It was emphasized that for freedom, the mystery underlying power and domination must be revealed.
