Whittaker Düzeltme Yöntemi ve Türkiye Ölüm Oranlarına Bir Uygulaması

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı ölüm oranlarına uygulanan ve parametrik olmayan Whittaker Düzeltme Yöntemini incelemek ve Türkiye verilerine bir uygulamasını yapmaktır. Uygulama bölümünde kullanılan veriler, Devlet istatistik Enstitüsünün derlemekte olduğu il ve ilçe merkezleri ölüm ve nüfus istatistikleridir. Bu istatistiklerden hesaplanan ham ölüm oranlarına, Whittaker düzeltme yöntemini uygulamak amacıyla Microsoft Excel 'de hazırlanmış bir program tekrar gözden geçirilip kullanılmıştır. Uygulama sonucunda ham ölüm oranları düzeltilmiş, Türkiye il ve ilçe merkezleri için hesaplanan düzeltilmiş ham ölüm oranları kullanılarak cinsiyet bazında 1990 ve 2000 yılları için ölüm tabloları hazırlanmış ve yaşam beklentileri hesaplanmıştır. Uygulamada ulaşılan sonuçlar değerlendirilmiştir.

Whittaker Graduation Method and an Application to Turkish Mortality Rates

Abstract

The aim of this study is to discuss the non-parametric Whittaker graduation method as it is applied to remove statistical deviations from crude Turkish mortality rates. The whittaker method is popular since it has given good results in the past. The Turkish mortality tables for 1990 and 2000 are based on crude mortality rates calculated from data from provincial and district centers of Turkey. The crude death rates are smoothed using the Whittaker method. A Microsoft Excel Program is used in order to utilize the Whittaker graduation method. Mortality tables are prepared for 1990 and 2000 year by graduated mortality rates by gender. Also, expectations of life are calculated using these mortality tables. The results in the application reached are interpreted.
