This article deals with the concepts of the external trade and internal ülü (distribution) of Turkic dynasties. Changes in these two concepts during the course of history are examined in detail. The developments of trade in Asia, turning points of Asian and Turkic history are discussed. In the light of these discussions, the Turkic history has been re-interpreted with the concept of Asian history in a broader sense. It is maintained that the sovereignty concepts of Turkic rulers had been re-defined in terms of the developments and changes in external trade and internal ülü.
