Due to certain codes that his creation is based on, human beings feel the urge to ground his existence, his life, his beliefs and his thoughts on an essence. Thus, he has been in a quest for an essential for the religion that he believes in and tries to practice. When we take a look at the history of Islamic thought, the naming of what we know as “Kalam” today as “Essentials of the Religion” in the first place, is an obvious example to this. On the other hand, we see subsidiary issues that are branches and subcategories of the “essential”. The relationship between Kalam and Fiqh within the context of essentiality and subsidiarity still maintains its importance among the popular issues. Therefore, I set on to discuss the “relationship between Kalam and Fiqh within the context of essentiality and subsidiarity” after a general evaluation about the essential and the subsidiary
