Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy Development and Current Status

Year 2023, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 1 - 13, 31.12.2023

Abstract

Family structure and relationships have an impact on our psychological makeup, encompassing our thoughts, emotions and actions. To address familial and individual difficulties, therapeutic interventions have been developed. Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy (CBFT) represents an effective approach that combines cognitive and behavioral principles within the context of the family structure. Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy posits that the thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships within a family mutually influence each other, thereby resulting in familial issues emerging within the psychological cycle (Dattilio, 1997). Among the approaches to family therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy has been an approach adopted due to the therapeutic effectiveness of cognitive and behavioral therapy approaches and its nature that allows controlled studies to be conducted (Dattilio & Epstein, 2005). Accordingly, in this article, the relevant literature of cognitive behavioral family therapy is examined in detail and its theoretical background, practical application and development from past to present are discussed.

Bilişsel Davranışçı Aile Terapisi Gelişim ve Güncel Durum

Year 2023, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 1 - 13, 31.12.2023
