Ektoinin İnsan Lenfosit Hücrelerinde Genotoksik Potansiyeli

Year 2018, Volume: 8 Issue: 1, 317 - 323, 01.01.2018

Abstract

Genotoxic Potential of Ectoine in Human Lymphocyte Cells

Year 2018, Volume: 8 Issue: 1, 317 - 323, 01.01.2018

Abstract

Ectoine ECT is an osmoprotectant produced by halophilic bacteria in response to stressful factors. This amino acid derivative material can accumulate inside cells at high concentrations without interfering with natural processes and can protect the cell against radiation or osmotic stress. ECT is receiving increasing awareness by the scientific community because of its multiple applications. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the genotoxic and anti-genotoxic potencies of ECT by using human lymphocytes cells. The results showed that ECT has strong anti-genotoxic properties. Also, our findings suggest that protective effects of ECT in human lymphocytes cells subjected to NaN3 may be related to antioxidative properties of the ECT.
