Aim: This study was conducted to determine the Syrian refugee women's in Turkey
reproductive health issues.
Methods: Research data were obtained between January 15 2016 and April 15 2016.
The study sample, asylum seekers in who receiving service from Istanbul province and
the Association for Solidarity with Migrants (ASAM) and Bezm-i Alem Foundation
University Hospital Fatih Additional Services Building admitted to Obstetrics and
Gynecology, literate (Turkish, Kurdish, Arabic) 300 immigrant women has formed. The
data were collected with, the total 56-item questionnaire that determines reproductive
health needs of women with socio-demographic and fertility characteristics and data
were analyzed using SPSS 16.0 software with percentages.
Results: İt was found that 61,7% of women are between 20 and 39 years old, 88% of
them are married and 43,6% of them are primary school graduate.40,7 % of women
were married for five years or less duration, 68,4% of women had their first
pregnancy by up to 19 years old and 42,7% of them was found to have at least 5
children.Only 14,7% of women make controls of breast and cervical screening in their
own country and alsoit was found that 4% of them stated doing regular breast selfexamination.60% of women defined pathological discharge, almost half of them
doesn’t have habit of lustrating right , it was found that 9,5% of women indicated that
they had experienced a sexual abuse.
Conclusion: It was found that, women who participate in our study are married at a
young age, have high fertility, insufficient about conducts that protect woman and
reproductive health and having inabilities about receiving family planning services and
using contraceptive methods. And out of all the gynaecological problems vaginal
discharge, which indicates gynaecological infection, is described most.
