It is possible to say that Turkey, for the first time, acquainted with folklore shows
presented on stage in the Folklore Festivals organized by Association for the
protection and survival of Turkish folklore which was founded in 1955 by Yapı Kredi
Bank. Following this, Milliyet Daily News included Turkish folk dancing to its contest
categories addition to its music contest among high schools. Thus, Turkish folk
dances which had been staged by school teachers before got an opportunity to meet larger masses for many years.
