W.B. Yeats ve T.S. Eliot’un Erken Dönem Şiirlerinde Platonik Öğeler

Abstract

Hem
W.B. Yeats hem de T.S. Eliot, yaşadığımız dünyayı tek açıklanabilir gerçeklik
olarak gören burjuva ideolojisine karşı modernist bir tepki olarak, görünen
fiziksel dünyanın ötesinde bir mutlak gerçeklik olduğuna inanmışlar ve bu
gerçekliğin arayışı içinde olmuşlardır. Bu çalışma, şairlerin bu ruhani
aydınlanma çabalarının, şiirlerini, maddi dünya ve Formlar ya da Idealar
dünyası arasında ayrım yapan Platonizm ile nasıl bir ilişki içine soktuğunu
araştırmaktadır. Yeats ve Eliot mutlak gerçekliğe ulaşmak için farklı yollar
izleseler de, manevi çabaları her ikisini de zamanın, mekanın ve benliğin
ötesine bakmaya yönlendirmiştir. Bu yüzden, bu makale Yeats ve Eliot’un zamanı,
mekanı ve benliği ele alış biçimlerindeki Platonik yansımaları analiz
etmektedir.
