Internet Using Patterns And Its Associations With Psychopathology Among Male Undergraduate Students: An Epidemiological Survey

Abstract

using the Internet were determined. Results: The mean age of the sample was 22 (SD: 2.0). The mean time spent online was 15 hours per week (SD: 12, median: 14). There was a positive correlation between SCL-90 and OCS total scores (r=0.452, p<0.01). No correlation was detected between time spent on the Internet and SCL-90 scores (r=0.067, p=0.19). The number of participants who reported to be having problems in all domains of problematic Internet use was 30 (%7.8). Conclusions: These findings suggest that the relative priority and individual meaning of the Internet were associated with problematic use. In addition, Internet users have some primary purposes that are related to problematic use. Focusing on these areas for future studies is recommended

Erkek üniversite öğrencilerinde internet kullanım örüntüleri ve kullanım örüntülerinin psikopatolojiyle ilişkisi: epidemiyolojik bir araştırma

Öz

Amaç: İnternet kullanımının yaygınlaşması ile birlikte, internetin sorunlu kullanımı ile ilişkili bildirimler artmaktadır. Çalışmamızda, internet kullanımının fenomenolojik özelliklerini incelemek ve genel psikopatoloji ile ilişkisini epidemiyolojik bir örneklem kullanarak araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Ankara Üniversitesi’nde eğitim almakta olan erkek öğrencileri temsil edecek bir örneklem basit rastgele yöntem kullanılarak belirlenmiş ve 424 katılımcıya ulaşılmıştır. İnternet kullanımı, internete yüklenen anlamlar ve internetin günlük yaşamındaki etkisini incelemek için İnternette Bilişsel Durum Ölçeği (İBDÖ), genel ruhsal belirtilerin taranması için Belirti Tarama Listesi (SCL-90) ve internet kullanımının ayrıntılandırılması ile sosyodemografik verilerin incelenmesi için araştırıcılar tarafından geliştirilen soru formu kullanılmıştır. Ölçek puanları arasındaki korelasyonlar hesaplanmış ve ilgili değişkenlerle en fazla ilişkili olan öncelikli kullanım amaçları belirlenmiştir.
