SİNEMA FİLMLERİNDE İNTİHAR: ARAŞTIRMA, EĞİTİM VE SİNEMATERAPİ

Abstract

Medyada topluma sunulan intihar haberlerinin sunuş biçimleri ve toplumda görülen intihar hızlarındaki artış arasındaki olumlu yöndekiilişki Werther etkisi olarak bilinmekte ve kökeni18. yüzyıla kadar dayanmaktadır. Medyada yeralan haberlerin intihar hızlarını etkiliyor olmasıülkemizdeki Basın Kanunu'nda da intihar haberleri ile ilgili kısıtlamalara gidilmesini zorunlukılmıştır. Diğer taraftan sinema filmleri, basındasunulan haberlere kıyasla intiharı çok daha etkileyici bir şekilde işleyebilmektedir. Popülersinema filmlerinde konu edilen intihar, toplumüzerinde olumsuz etkiler yaratabileceği gibi bireğitim malzemesi veya psikoterapi işleyişi içindeolumlu yönde etkiler elde edebilmek amacı ilekullanılabilir. Bu yazıda sinema filmlerinde konuedilen intihar vakalarının muhtemel olumsuzetkileri, eğitimde ve psikoterapide olumluşekillerde kullanabilme imkânları, popüler filmörnekleri üzerinden gidilerek tartışılmıştır.Popüler filmler içinde küçümsenmeyecek sayıda bulunan intihar içerikli filmlerin toplum üzerindeki olumsuz etkileri, psikolojik sağlıkhizmeti veren uzmanların klinik eğitimlerinde kullanmaları ve sinematerapideki etkileri üzerine yapalabilecek bilimsel çalışmaların artması gerekmektedir.

Suicide in Movie Films: Research, Training, and Cinematherapy

Abstract

The positive relationship between the presentation styles of reports of suicide in themedia and the increase in the suicide rate hasbeen known as the Werther effect and its rootsare embedded in the 18th century. The fact that,reports of suicide in the media increases thenumber of suicide attempts has urged theTurkish Press Law to put some limits to thereports of suicide in the media. On the otherhand, movie films can present suicide in a muchmore effective way, compared to reports in themedia. Though topics of suicide in popularmovie films may create negative effects on society, it may be utilized either as an education toolor in the psychotherapy process as a means toreach the desirable positive goals. In this report,possible negative effects of contents of suicidein the movie films, the ways to make positiveuse of these contents in education and psychotherapy processes have been discussed,through various examples of popular moviefilms. Popular movie films portraying suicideshould be investigated in terms of their possiblenegative impact over the population and for theirpositive use in clinical training of mental healthprofessionals and in cinematherapy
