A Descriptive Study About Social Support Percieved by Cancer Patients

Abstract

This is a descriptive study, and aimed tospecify the percieved social support level of thecancer patients form their families and healthstaff. 80 family members of cancer patients and92 cancer patient were the subjects. A ratingform and two questionnaire (SDAF & SDHF)were used to collec data. Data were analized asfrequencies and pearson product moment corrolation coefficients. Results showed that cancer patients perception about social supportfrom their families is not satisfied and they stated that the socail sopport given by health staffis not enough. The patients percieve social support from their mates and children in otherwords from their nucleus families. But this support found to be not satisfied by patients.Patients percieved no social support from othercancer patients, psychologists and religiouspeople. If it is remembered the importance ofsocial support for cancer patients, the resultsshow a problem in terms of patients

Kanser Hastalarının Algıladıkları Sosyal Destek Düzeyine İlişkin Betimsel Bir Çalışma

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, kanser hastalarınınailelerinin, sosyal destek verme ve hastalarınsosyal desteği algılama düzeylerini belirlemekamaçlanmıştır. Betimsel bir çalışmadır.Araştırmaya toplam 80 hasta yakını ve 92 hastakatılmıştır. Araştırmada hasta ve hasta ailesi ileilgili demografik özelliklerin belirlenmesi vesosyal destek düzeyinin ölçülmesi amacıylaaraştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen (a) BilgiFormu, (b)Sosyal Destek Hasta Formu ve (c)Sosyal Destek Aile Formu kullanılmıştır.Hastalardan elde edilen veriler, tanımlayıcı istatistiksel yöntemler ve pearson momentlerçarpımı ile değerlendirilmiştir. Toplanan bilgilerhastaların en çok eş ve çocuklarından oluşançekirdek ailelerinden destek aldığını ancakbunun da yeterli düzeyde olmadığını göstermektedir. Hastalar, doktorlardan ve hemşirelerden ara sıra destek aldıklarını, hastalıkları vetedavileri ile ilgili bilgiyi ise orta düzeydealdıklarını ancak bunu yeterli bulmadıklarını ifade etmişlerdir.
