İNTİHAR DAVRANIŞI VE KİTLE İLETİŞİM ARAÇLARI

Abstract

Bu makalede intihar davranışı ve medya ilişkisi gözden geçirilmiştir. İntihar haberlerinin basın yayın organlarında taklit, özendirme etkisi nedeniyle yasaklanmasından başlayarak, intiharı önlemede medyadan yararlanmaya doğru bir değişim üzerinde durulmuştur. İntihar haberlerinin intihar oranlarını artırdığı görüşünden hareket ederek alanda bir çok çalışma yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmalar sonuçlarına göre 3 grupta toplanmış ve kısaca verilmiştir. İntiharı önlemede taklit etkisini azaltmak amacıyla ruh sağlığı profesyonelleri tarafından hazırlanan ve basına sunulan yol gösterici kurallar ve kriterlerden söz edilmiştir.

Abstract

İn this article the issue of suicide and the media were briefly reviewed. Suicide stories, which were censored in the past in media presentations because of encouraging people to imitate this behavior has changed tovvards the active and educative role of media in suicide prevention programmes. Several studies have been undertaken to discover whether the appearance of suicide related stories in the media have in anyway increased the overall number of suicides. AH of these studies were divided in 3 groups and discussed. A set of criteria or guidelines formulated by mental health professionals to reduce the imitation effect of suicide related news in the media were presented.
