Abstract

This experimental study was
planned to investigate the compliance, reasons of
non-compliance of depression patients and the
effects of supportif nursing interventions via home
visits on the compliance and thus on reduction in
disability and symptoms. Method: A total of 83
patients were included in the study of which 41 as
experimental subject and 42 as control group. The
data were acquired from ali patients by personally
intervievv in out-patient clinics, and from the
questionnaire filled out during the home visits, 3
months after the initiation of the therapy. The
experimental subjects were visited two more times
between this period. Ali collected data were
entered in Statistical Package for Social Sciences
(SPSS 5.0) in the computer. Results: At the end of
study, it was found that a vast majority of the
experimental subjects (73%) have come to hospital for their appointments vvithout any interruption
vvhereas in the control group only 24% of the
patients have come. Owing to the supportive
nursing interventions during home visits, the
patients in the experiment group 88% of these
patients were found to be compliant vvhile 24% of
control group were found compliant. The analysis
of the patients in the control group revealed that
lack of knovvledge 42% and the drug side effects
39% constituted the two main reasons in quiting
the medication vvhereas in experiment group only
5 patient quited the therapy 3 of whom vvere due to
the side effects. Although disability rates vvere
found to be decreased in both experimental and
control groups, a significant difference betvveen the
mean disability scores of both groups vvere found.
Conclusions: Based on these results recalling
that the nursing interventions performed by home
visits have increased the drug compliance of the
patients, some recommendations to nurses about
patient follovv-up are also emphasized in this
study.

Abstract

Amaç: Araştırma ilaç tedavisi önerilen depresif
hastaların tedavilerine uyumlarını, uyumsuzluk
nedenlerini ve ev ziyaretleri ile yapılan destekleyici
hemşirelik uygulamalarının hastaların ilaç tedavilerine
uyumları dolayısıyla yetiyitimlerine ve
semptomlara etkisini belirlemek amacı ile deneysel
olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yöntem: Araştırma örneklemine
41 deney, 42 kontrol olmak üzere toplam
83 hasta alınmıştır. Veriler, hastaların tümü ile
poliklinik görüşmesi yapılarak, deney grubu hastalarına
tekrarlı ev ziyaretleri (3 kez) ve tüm hastalara
tedavilerinin başlangıcından 3 ay sonra ev ziyareti
yapılarak Kısa Yetiyitimi Anketi yanı sıra dört
soru formunun hastalarla yüz yüze görüşme tekniği
kullanılarak doldurulması ile toplanmıştır. Bulgular:
Üç ay sonunda; kontrollerine düzenli olarak gidenler
kontrol grubunda % 24, deney grubunda %
73'dür. İlaçlarına uyumlu olan hastaların oranı
kontrol grubunda % 24, deney grubunda % 88'dir.
Deney grubunda ilacını bırakan hasta sayısı sadece
beş olup kontrol grubunda ilaç bırakma nedenlerinden
birinci sırayı % 42 ile bilgi eksikliği, ikinci
sırayı % 39 ile ilaç yan etkileri almıştır. Yetiyitiminde
her iki grupta da azalma gözlenirken, 3 aylık
dönem sonunda deney grubu ile kontrol grubu arasında
yetiyitimi puan ortalamaları yönünden fark istatistiksel
olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur.
