Aslı Erdoğan'ın Kabuk Adam Romanında Uzam

Abstract

Yazarın eserlerinde sıkça rastlanan tipik lirik üsluba sahip olan Aslı Erdoğan’ın Kabuk Adam adlı romanı uzama yaptığı vurguyla dikkat çeker. Bir kısa roman olarak adlandırılabilecek olan roman, farklı uzam biçimlerine göndermelerde bulunurken aynı zamanda bu farklı uzamların geçmişte ve günümüzde insanlar ve yaşamları üzerindeki etkisini araştırır. Bu uzamlar kültürlerin şekillenmesinde etkilidir ve kendileri de yaşam biçimlerini temsil eder. Başka bir deyişle, farklı uzamlar o uzama özgü özellikler gösteren insanlar üretir. İnsanlar içinde bulundukları veya bağ kurdukları uzamlar tarafından rahatsız edilirler ve bu uzamların yükünü hissederler. Kabuk Adam’daki farklı uzamlar bazen doğaldır; ancak yapay da olabilir. Ve bu uzamların zaman zaman büyük farklılıklar göstermesi; yani sadece büyük farklılıklar değil aynı zamanda zıtlıklar da göstermesi ve sahip oldukları özellikler açısından zıt örnekler olarak kalması doğaldır. Bu kısa romandaki uzamlar fiziksel olabileceği gibi psikolojik de olabilir. Hatta eserdeki başkarakterlerin kullandıkları dil farklı olduğundan dilsel bile olabilir.

SPACE IN KABUK ADAM BY ASLI ERDOĞAN

Abstract

Aslı Erdoğan’s Kabuk Adam, the first book and the novel written by the author bearing the typical lyrical style frequently found in her works, is noted for its emphasis upon space. The novel, which might be better called a novella, makes references to different forms of space while at the same time exploring the impact of these different spaces upon people and their lives, past and present. These spaces have an impact upon the shaping of cultures and they themselves represent ways of living. In other words, different spaces produce people showing characteristics peculiar to that space. People are haunted by the space they are in or they have a connection with. They feel the burden of the spaces they are familiar with. Different spaces in Kabuk Adam are sometimes natural; but they might also be artificial. And it is natural that these spaces from time to time show great discrepancies; that is, they not only demonstrate great differences but also contrasts and remain as opposite examples with respect to the characteristics they have. Spaces in this novella might be physical as well as psychological. They can even be linguistic as the language used by the main characters in the novella differ.
