Prof. Dr. İbrahim Serkan Mısır,
He was born in 1976 in Kırşehir. After completing his secondary and high school education in Izmir, he graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Civil Engineering Department in 1999. He worked in the evaluation of buildings damaged in Kocaeli and Düzce earthquakes. He received his master's and doctorate degrees in Structural Engineering in 2004 and 2011 respectively. In 2014, he conducted postdoctoral research at VirginiaTech/USA. He is one of the founding members of DEU Structural Engineering Laboratory. Since 2023, he has been a Full Professor at Dokuz Eylul University, Civil Engineering Department. He is the author of more than 30 research articles, more than 50 national and international proceeding papers, has been involved in more than 10 research projects as a principal or researcher, and has been cited by more than 400 scientific publications internationally. His research interests include earthquake resistant structural design, nonlinear modeling, quasi-static in-plane/out-of-plane testing of large geometric scale structural specimens, prefabricated reinforced concrete buildings, earthquake behavior/strengthening of historic and recent masonry buildings, and staged seismic pre-assessment of city-scale building inventory. Currently, he is a member of Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) Regulation Steering Commission which is carrying out the revisions of 2018 Turkey Building Earthquake Regulations, Chamber of Civil Engineers (IMO) Izmir Branch Building Board, and Risky Structures Appeal Technical Committee of Izmir Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanisation an Climate Change.
