Personality Building in The Context of The Surah Joseph in Qur’an

Abstract

This study examines the personalities of the characters in the story mentioned in Surah Yusuf and the development of their personalities over time. This story, which largely recounts the life of Prop-het Yusuf (Joseph), offers rich insights into the personalities of various figures in addition to sociological, psychological, political, and moral analyses. It is adorned with positive emotions such as love, forgiveness, and praise, as well as negative emotions like jealousy, envy, and resentment. What is expected of indivi-duals is to keep these inherent emotions under control. In the story of Prophet Yusuf, these emotions and their effects are extensively addressed.The life of Prophet Yusuf is narrated in more detail and in a single instance compared to other prophets, making this story a subject of study due to its literary style and the messages it conveys. In the Qur'an, prophets are sometimes praised for the exemplary attitudes they adopt under certain circumstances. From these mentioned attributes, we gain insights into their personalities. Most of the descriptions related to Prophet Yusuf are found in the story of Yusuf, while the rest are in passages that mention him alongside other prophets. In this respect, the story serves as both a source of solace and motivation for Muslims, while also presenting an ideal type of servant who success-fully overcomes various trials and challenges by seeking refuge in Allah and persevering with patience. Additionally, the story observes the development and transformation of individuals as a result of chan-ging times, circumstances, and events. Another noteworthy aspect of the story is that the events are narrated without containing direct commands or prohibitions. This has a profound impact on the hearts of Muslims and plays an effective role in shaping their personalities.

Kur’ân’da Yûsuf Sûresi Bağlamında Şahsiyet İnşası

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Yûsuf sûresinde geçen kıssadaki kahramanların şahsiyetleri ve zamanla şahsiyetle-rindeki gelişim ele alınmıştır. Büyük oranda Hz. Yûsuf’un hayat hikâyesini içeren bu kıssa, sosyolojik, psiko-lojik, siyasî ve ahlâkî tahlillerin yanı sıra bazı şahsiyetler hakkında zengin bilgiler sunmaktadır. İnsan sevme, bağışlama, övme gibi olumlu duyguların yanı sıra kıskançlık, haset ve kin besleme gibi olumsuz duygularla da bezenmiştir. Kuldan istenen, fıtrî olan bu duyguların kontrol altında tutulabilmesidir. Hz. Yûsuf kıssasın-da bu duygular ve etkileri yoğun bir şekilde işlenmektedir. Hz. Yûsuf’un hayatının diğer peygamberlere nispetle daha detaylı ve tek bir seferde anlatıldığı bu kıssa, edebî anlatım tarzı ve içerdiği mesajlar açısın-dan da araştırmalara konu olmuştur. Kur’ân’da peygamberler, zaman zaman şartlara göre takındıkları ör-nek tavırlardan ötürü övülmektedir. Zikredilen bu vasıflardan, onların şahsiyetiyle ilgili bilgiler edinmekte-yiz. Hz. Yûsuf ile ilgili bu nitelemelerin çoğunluğu Yûsuf kıssasında, kalan kısmı ise diğer peygamberlerle birlikte zikredilen pasajlarda bulunmaktadır. Bu yönleriyle kıssa, Müslümanlar için bir taraftan teselli ve motivasyon işlevi görürken, diğer yandan Allah’a sığınarak ve sabırla mücadele ederek çeşitli zorluklar-dan/imtihanlardan başarıyla çıkan mükemmel bir kul tiplemesi sunmaktadır. Ayrıca kıssada, zamanın ve şartların değişmesi ve yaşanan olaylar neticesinde kişilerdeki gelişim ve değişim de gözlenmektedir. Kıs-sada dikkat çeken diğer bir husus, olayların emir ve nehiy içermeden anlatılmasıdır. Bu da Müslümanların kalplerine tesir etmekte ve şahsiyetlerinin inşasında etkili olmaktadır.
