Köpeklerde Kalça Displazisi Prevalansının PennHIP Yöntemiyle Ortaya Konulması

Year 2017, Volume: 10 Issue: 4, 269 - 277, 01.12.2017

Abstract

Determination of Prevalance of Canine Hip Dysplasia By Pennhip Method

Year 2017, Volume: 10 Issue: 4, 269 - 277, 01.12.2017

Abstract

This study aimed at determining classification and grading by PennHIP using radiographic images of prevalance of hip diysplasia (HD) frequently seen in dogs using British Veterinary Association/Kennel Club (BVA/KC). The study material was consisted of a total of 58 stray dogs as 24 male and 34 female within Afyonkarahisar province. Dogs were allocate into 3 groups. Group I contained 27 dogs 2 y.o. and younger as 9 male and 18 female, group II had between 3 and 3 y.o. 15 dogs as 8 male and 7 female and group III was 5 y.o and over 16 dogs as 7 male and 9 female. Three different methods of standard ventrodorsal (SVD), distraction and compression radiographic images were taken and images were further transferred to a digital medium. Distraction index (DI) and compression index and Norberg Angle (NA) was determined by means of radiographic images of SVD and BVA/KC criteria were considered for grading. In conlcusion, SVD and distraction methods can diagnose hip dysplasia but when the ratio between DI and SVD was considered DI alone should not be used in the diagnosis of hip dysplasia thus it was suggested that the combination of dual use of DI and SVD may enhance the diagnosis.
