Abstract
This study was performed to determine the presence of E.coli, E. coli O157:H7 and L.monocytogenes in the Afyon kaymak samples sold at markets in Afyonkarahisar. Hence, a total of 100 Afyon kaymak samples was used as study material which are collected from 9 different salers between 2007-2008 during spring, autumn and winter. E. coli was detected in the 7 of the analyzed 100 Afyon kaymak samples at the numbers of 2,1x102, 1,8x102, 1,0x102, 1,0x102, 1,0x102, 1,2x101, 1,0x102 kob/g, respectively. No E. coli O157:H7 and L. monocytogenes was determined in any of the analyzed samples. Consequently, the presence of E. coli in the samples of Afyon kaymagı indicated a potential public health risk. Therefore it is necessary to detemine and monitor critical control points in the kaymak producing plants and improve the production conditions to protect public health.
