Abstract
Dünyada süt üretiminin yaklaşık %90’ını üreten sığırların barındırılması ve barınaklarının yönetilmesi önemli konulardandır. Süt sığırları için değişik barındırma sistemleri bulunmaktadır. Yetiştiriciler, hayvan refahının artırılması ve barınaklardan kaynaklanabilen hastalıkların azaltılması için yeni arayışlar içinde olmaktadırlar. Bu barınak sistemlerinden biri de kompost altlıklı barınaklardır. Türkiye’de çok yeni olan bu sistem bazı ülkelerde yaklaşık 20 yıldır uygulanmaktadır. Bu sistemde barınan ineklerin daha rahat oldukları, doğal davranışlarını gösterdikleri ve hastalıkların daha az görüldüğü bildirilmektedir. Bu makalede de uygulayıcılar için faydalı olacağı düşünülen kompost altlıklı barınaklar hakkında detaylı bilgiler verilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
