Abstract

This research was conducted to detennine the effect of egg weight on chick weight and survival rate in Bronze turkeys. Totally 2056 hatching eggs were used as 4 different groups according to egg weight. Chick weight were found as 41.97 ± 0.51 g, 47.96 ± 0.28 g, 50.82 ± 0.24 g and 58.54 ± 0.46 g for the groups as < 69.5 g, 69.5 -79.4 g, 79.5 -89.4 g and > 89.4 g egg weight, respectively. Overall mean was 49.84 ± 0.19 g. Egg weight had significant effects (P< 0.05) on chick weight. Survival rate were found as 0.95 ± 0.01, 0.94 ± 0.01, 0.93 ± 0.01, 0.92 ± 0.01, 0.89 ± 0.02, 0.87 ± 0.02, 0.86 ± 0.02, 0.86 ± 0.02 for 1., 2., 3., 15., 21., 28., 42. and 56. days of age, respectively . Effect of egg weight on survival rate 3., 15., 21., 28., 42. and 56. day was significant (P< 0.05) or highly significant (P< 0.01), but was no -significant (P> 0.05) on the survival rate up to 1. and 2. day

Abstract

Bu çalışma, bronz hindilerde yumurta ağırlığının kuluçkadan çıkış ağırlığı ve yaşama gücüne etkilerini belirlemek için yapılmıştır. Toplam 2056 adet kuluçkalık yumurta kullanılmıştır. Yumurtalar ağırlık bakımından 4 farklı gruba ayrılmıştır. Ağırlığı < 69.5 g, 69.5 – 79.4 g, 79.5 – 89.4 g ve > 89.4 g.’lık yumurtalar için civcivlerin kuluçkadan çıkış ağırlıkları sırasıyla 41.97 ± 0.51 g, 47.96 ± 0.28 g, 50.82 ± 0.24 g ve 58.54 ± 0.46 g; populasyon genelinde ise 49.84 ± 0.19 g. olarak bulunmuştur. Yumurta ağırlığının kuluçkadan çıkış ağırlığına etkisi önemli (P>0.05) bulunmuştur. Palazlarda 1., 2., 3., 15., 21., 28., 42. ve 56. günlük yaşlarda yaşama gücü ortalamaları sırasıyla, 0.95 ± 0.01, 0.94 ± 0.01, 0.93 ± 0.01, 0.92 ± 0.01, 0.89 ± 0.02, 0.87 ± 0.02, 0.86 ± 0.02, 0.86 ± 0.02 bulunmuştur. Kuluçkalık yumurta ağırlığının yaşama gücüne etkileri 1., 2. gün için önemsiz (P>0.05), 3., 15., 21., 28., 42. ve 56. gün için önemli (P< 0.05) veya çok önemli (P< 0.01) bulunmuştur.
