Tardigrades from Northwestern Türkiye (Düzce and Zonguldak): new records and faunistic assessment

Abstract

In this study, the tardigrade fauna of the provinces of Düzce and Zonguldak was evaluated based on nine semi-terrestrial samples. Semi-terrestrial samples were collected from lichen, moss, and leaf litter habitats. A total of 169 tardigrades and 12 eggs were examined, and 14 species were identified. Additionally, two species, Paramacrobiotus walteri (Biserov, 1997/98) and Isohypsibius marcellinoi Binda & Pilato, 1971 were reported from Turkey for the first time. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of regional tardigrade diversity and to provide a foundational reference for future taxonomic and ecological research on tardigrades in Turkey.

Kuzeybatı Türkiye’den (Düzce ve Zonguldak) yeni tardigrat kayıtları ve faunistik değerlendirme

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Düzce ve Zonguldak illerinden toplanan dokuz karasal örnek üzerinden tardigrad faunası değerlendirilmiştir. Karasal örnekler liken, yosun ve yaprak döküntüsü habitatlarından elde edilmiştir. İncelenen materyallerde 169 tardigrat ve 12 yumurta toplamda 14 tür tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca Paramacrobiotus walteri (Biserov, 1997/98) ve Isohypsibius marcellinoi Binda & Pilato, 1971 türleri Türkiye’den ilk kez rapor edilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile bölgesel tardigrat çeşitliliğinin ortaya konmasına katkı sağlaması ve Türkiye’de yürütülecek gelecekteki taksonomik ve ekolojik araştırmalar için temel bir referans oluşturması amaçlanmıştır.
