Abstract

Diphenoxylate Atropine Combined Preparations

Abstract

Diarrhea, which has infectious and non-infectious causes in etiology such as malabsorption, gastroenteritis, hypermotility, is a common symptom that can be seen in clinical situations managed by many medical disciplines. Diarrhea ranges from life-threatening clinical conditions to simple watery stools. Usually, treating the underlying disease and applying appropriate dietary interventions are sufficient to control diarrhea. However, when such measures are insufficient, a combination of loperamide or diphenoxylate atropine can be used to prolong transit time and increase fluid and electrolyte absorption.
