Lumbar spinal chondroma presented with radiculopathy: A case report

Year 2011, Volume: 3 Issue: 3, 28 - 30, 01.08.2011

Abstract

Although chondromas are common benign cartilaginous bone tumors, spinal chondromas are very unusual. However, spinal chondromas may present with local mass, local pain, spinal cord compression symptoms, cauda equina syndrome; they also present with radicular symptoms rarely. Here, a patient with the chief complaint: progressive low back pain radiating left leg, is presented as a case of lumbar spinal chondroma. In this kind of cases; preoperative evaluation of the lesion must be done carefully, total excision of the lesion must be done before neurological damages develop, and also histopathological studies must be done because of a potential risk of malign transformation as a cardinal importance.

Year 2011, Volume: 3 Issue: 3, 28 - 30, 01.08.2011
