Marmara Geographical Research

Marmara Geographical Research (Marmara GEO) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal that publishes high-quality, original, and scholarly research in geography and related disciplines. Adopting a continuous publication model, the journal welcomes manuscripts from all sub-disciplines of geography, particularly physical, human, economic, regional, and historical geography, as well as interdisciplinary studies that adopt a spatial perspective.

The journal's scope includes, but is not limited to, Physical Geography, Urban and Settlement Geography, Population Geography, Climate Change Studies, Disaster Management, Sustainable Development, Regional Planning, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Geographic Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI), Spatial Analysis, and studies focusing on the application of emerging technologies in geographical research. Marmara Geographical Research (Marmara GEO) particularly encourages interdisciplinary approaches, methodological innovations, and technology-oriented geographical research.

The primary aim of the journal is to advance geographical scholarship by publishing original scientific studies, particularly in physical, human, and regional geography, while promoting multidisciplinary approaches and technology-driven research. In line with this mission, the journal supports theoretical, applied, and methodological studies, as well as research that provides evidence-based solutions to contemporary physical and societal challenges.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that are found to be within the aims and scope of the journal are subsequently evaluated through a double-blind peer review process conducted by independent experts in the relevant field.

Marmara Geographical Research (Marmara GEO) publishes articles in Turkish and English on an ongoing basis. All published content is made freely available immediately upon publication in accordance with the journal's open-access policy. No fees are charged to authors at any stage of the publication process, including manuscript submission, peer review, article processing charges (APCs), DOI assignment, or publication.
