Abstract

Özet
İmâmiye Şîası müntesipleri vefatlarından sonra, İmamların kabirlerinin bulunduğu Atebat’a defnedilmeyi arzularlar. Bu sebeple yüzyıllardır, defnedilmek üzere tüm Şiî dünyasından Atebat’a binlerce cenaze getirilmektedir. Fakat, yüzyıllardır devam eden bu gelenek, tarih boyunca bölgeye
birtakım sıkıntıları da beraberinde getirmiştir. Muhtelif vergilerin ve karantina uygulamalarının türlü şikayetlere yol açması nedeniyle, Şiî cenazelerin Atebat’a nakli konusu XIX. yüzyıl boyunca Osmanlı–İran devletleri arasında meydana
gelen ihtilaf konularından bir tanesi olmuştur. Şiîlerin Bağdat eyaletinin derinlerine nüfuz edebilmesinde cenaze naklinin küçümsenmeyecek katkısının olduğu söylenebilir. Çünkü, cenaze nakli zamanla pek çok meslek gurubu için önemli
bir gelir kaynağı haline dönüşmüş ve böylece eyaletin önemli ekonomik güçlerden biri haline gelmişti.

Abstract
The followers of Imamiya shia desire to be burried in atabats where the tombs of imams are. Therefore, every year, for centuries, thousands of Shi’i corpses for burial have been transported to atabats from the whole Shi’i world. However, this custom that has been going on for centuries,
caused many problems throughout the history in the region.
Because of the taxes imposed on corpses and quarantine, transporting the corpses to atabats has always been one of the disputes between Ottoman-Persian. It could be argued that the corps traffic has given a considerable contribution to Shia to penetrate deep into the province of Baghdad. Because, by the time, transfering the corpses had been
the main sources of income for a variety of professianal classes in the province, thus, it had become
one of the leading economic forces there.
