The role of human parvoviruses in the pathogenesis of non-immune hydrops fetalis has recently gained attention. Human parvovirus B19 (HPV B19) may cause fetal death, abortion, hydrops or self limited infection, which also may become chronic. However, the rate of human parvovirus B19 infections in hydropic cases is unknown. We present a non- immune hydrops fetalis case which was thought to be due to parvovirus infection and discuss the progression and outcome of the baby.
