O b je c tiv e : Th e aim o f this des c riptive s tu d y was
to e va lu ate th e s tu d e n ts ' perceptions relating to
medical e d u ca tio n at Marm a ra University School
of M e d ic in e in o rd e r to include their opinions and
re c om m e n d a tio n s in fu tu re c u rr ic u la r and
meth o d o lo g ica l ch a n g e s in medical education.
M e th o d s : Data was collec ted by a ques tionnaire.
E ighty fo u r re ce n t g ra d u a te s partic ipated in the
study; the re sp o n se rate was 60.4%.
R e s u lts : The g ra d u a te s were pleased to be
asked th e ir opin io n s . The majority agreed that
there was need fo r a "m o derate change" in the
e d u c a tio n a l s y s tem o f M a rm a ra U n iv e rs ity
School of Medicine. Gra d u a te s who reported
"c h a n g e s in th e e d u c a tio n a l s y s tem are
nece s sa ry " in dicated that necessary changes
sh o u ld be d o n e b a s ica lly in areas such as
e d u ca tio n a l methods , cu rricu lum , audio-v isual
m a te ria ls , tra in in g s k ills and
a s s e s sm e n t/e va lu a tio n methods.
C o n c lu s io n : T h is 'b a s e lin e e v a lu a tio n ' is
c o n s id e re d as th e in itia l s te p tow a rd s the
im p ro vem e n t p roces s of medical education in
Marm a ra U nivers ity School of Medicine, since
the nece s sa ry ch a n g e s were highlighted by the
results. T h e se results dem o n s tra te d conformity
b e tw e e n th e o p in io n s and e x p e c ta tio n s of
s tu d e n ts , and th e n e e d s , p rin c ip le s and
s u g g e s tio n s s ta te d by th e In s titu tio n a l
