Synthesis and cytotoxic activity of some 1,2,4-triazoline-3-thione and 2,5-disubstituted- 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives

Abstract

ABSTRACT: In this search, a series of 5-[4-(4-fluorobenzoylamino)phenyl]-2-substitutedamino-
1,3,4-thiadiazole ( 2a-g ) and 5-[4-(4-fluorobenzoylamino)phenyl]-4-substituted-2,4-dihydro-
3H-1,2,4-triazo-le-3-thione ( 3a-f ) derivatives were synthesized and characteristed by
elemental analysis, UV-visible, IR, 1H-NMR, MS spectral data and X-ray crystallograpy (3b).
Cytotoxic activity of six prototype compounds (2a, 2d, 2e, 3a, 3d and 3e) were evaluated by
using HeLa (ATCC CCL-2) and normal cell lines according to procedures of MTT
[3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide] Assay [Cell Proliferation Kit I
(MTT) Roche-Germany].
